Milwaukee WAVE -Lindsay's Voice Night

Trees of Hope WI 2018 was a most Magical day. Starting the morning was Breakfast with Santa. Seeing the smiling faces of the children (and adults) was so heartwarming. Their interaction with the “Princesses” Miss New Berlin and Miss Milwaukee Outstanding Teen, making reindeer antler hats, coloring , watching intently the entertaining musical performance by Michael Drake (Mr Pickles) Gavyn Baxa took photos of the kids with our great Santa (Dennis Alsteen) . The Radisson staff provided a delicious pancake breakfast. Volunteers from the Blood Center of WI and Children’s Hospital as well as other friends of Trees of Hope donated their time to help make a fun experience for all. We saw lots of smiling faces going home with their Raffle winnings.

Guests enjoyed all the incredibly gorgeous decorated Themed Christmas trees. Creativity reigned with the Elf on the Shelf tree, Minions, Beer Lovers Tree, All Sports, Vices, Lottery tree, Heroes, Grinch Tree, Yuletide Farm Tree, Angels Tree, Tatting, The Beat Goes On, It’s A Chocolate Christmas, White/Red Tree, Peppermint, The abundant Silent Auction items saw bids continue to rise throughout the day.

The evening Dinner-Gala-Live Auction started with guests enjoying cocktails and mingling. They were serenaded by the Back In Time Quartet. Bidding on the Trees and Auction items. A wine cork pull and Raffle saw lively activity.

Dave Eyrise, Lindsay’s Voice Vice President welcomed gala guests to dinner. The program began with a tribute to our Emcee Bruce Winter WUWM/88Nine Radio who sadly passed away last week. Erik Ulvog shared a heartfelt prayer. Guests enjoyed a fine dinner prepared by the Radisson Chefs and they dined to piano music performed by Jayme Dawicki.

After Dinner, 2018 Trees of Hope WI Ambassador, Paul Lawonn, Mantle Cell Lymphoma and Brain Cancer Survivor, shared his 9 year journey through cancer treatment. Then 2018 Trees of Hope Ambassador- 5 year old - Hayley Schramek, Leukemia Survivor and her family shared their story of Hayley’s treatment journey. They are excited to share that she has completed treatment at Children’s Hospital of Wi as of August 2018 and
RANG THE BELL!

Dr Marcelo Pasquini, Blood Cancer Specialist and Researcher at CIBMTR, spoke about advancements in treatments for blood cancers. Dr Julie Talano, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology specialist at Children’s Hospital of WI, shared more about the Car-T Cell Immunotherapy trials and treatments for blood cancers and goals for future treatments. Lindsay’s Voice presented Children’s Hospital a check for $10,000 to support the CAR-T Cell Immunotherapy Clinical Trials.

The evening got quite lively as Daven Claerbout, Charity Auctioneer “extraordinaire” engaged the crowd for the Live Auction. Extremely generous guests helped us raise funds to advance our mission. At last count we raised over $40,000 at 2018 Trees of Hope Festival- Gala-Auction !!!

All the Trees, wreaths, silent auction and live auction items now have new homes! Abundant Thanks to everyone who made this event possible.

Thanks to Radisson Hotel Mayfair for donating their Ballroom again this year and their staff for doing such a magnificent job. Thank You to all the magnificent Sponsors that made Trees of Hope WI a reality. Thank you to Realty Executives Wisconsin Region for Sponsoring the Gala. Those that supported us with auction or raffle items. Supported us with financial gifts. Those that have supported us with their time and talents.

When Lindsay’s Voice and Trees of Hope WI started 8 years ago, we could have never imagined how many incredible people we would meet, who as we say ,“understand the why” in fighting the evil cancers. The fighters, the survivors, those that have been healed in Heaven. The incredible researchers that tirelessly work to develop less-toxic, more effective treatments. We are proud to say we are “Lindsay’s Voice”.

Lindsay’s Voice is a completely volunteer-based non-profit. None of our board members are compensated in any way. All of the money we raise is dedicated to support local blood cancer patients through patient services, treatment advancements and the search for cures.
